Emergency services rushed to the scene of a fire scare at a block of flats on Ipswich Waterfront this evening.

Firefighters were called at shortly before 10pm tonight to investigate a possible blaze at a high rise building in Ipswich.

A total of eight engines rushed to the scene at Zephyr Court, on Barnard Square, after somebody reported a smell of burning in the stairwell.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said the incident was a “false alarm”.
