A fire has started in a cavity wall at a pub in Lidgate.

One fire crew from Wickhambrook and one from Newmarket were called to the Star Pub in Lidgate Street at around 6.20pm, where the Wickhambrook officer in charge reported the fire in a cavity wall of the building.

Firefighters had to cut away part of the wall to expose the fire and extinguish it.

The fire was extinguished shortly before 7.15pm, with thermal imaging cameras used to monitor the temperature behind the wall after the fire had been put up.
