Fire threatens overhead power cables

ELECTRICITY engineers were called to the scene of a fire earlier that threatened to damage overhead power cables.

The blaze broke out at a shed in The Street, Peasenhall, close to a detached building, at around 3.30pm today.

The fire spread to another shed and also came dangerously close to overhead wiring - prompting fireman to ask for assistance from EDF Energy.

Crews from Saxmundham, Halesworth and Framlingham attended and used two breathing apparatus and two hose reels.

The East of England Ambulance Service was also called and paramedics treated one person for smoke inhalation.
