Firefighters called to chimney fire in Toppesford

The fire took place on Gainsford End Road shortly before 4.50pm this evening.

One fire engine was called to the scene from Halstead.

A spokesperson from Suffolk Fire and Rescue said: “On arrival firefighters reported that the fire was well developed within the chimney and used chimney tools to extinguish it by 5.45pm.”

Firefighters then stayed at the property after the fire was extinguished to install two smoke alarms as none were present in the property.
