Firefighters free woman trapped after A12 car crash between Hatfield Peverel and Witham

Four people were injured in a crash on the A12 in Essex last night.

A blue Peugeot and a silver Citroen collided at about 9.50pm in the northbound carriageway of the A12 between Hatfield Peverel and Witham.

Firefighters were called to free a woman from the wreckage of one of the cars.

Two crews attended and used specialist cutting equipment to free the casualty, who was left in the care of the ambulance service.

Essex Police said the road was closed until about 1am.
