Firefighters were involved in a nine hour operation tackling a steaming pile of manure in Somersham today.

The Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called at 12.20pm today to reports of a significant amount of manure on fire in Somersham.

Five vehicles attended throughout the day, as firefighters scaled down the problem before monitoring the situation into the evening.

A stop was finally called on the operation at 9.37pm.
