Firefighters in Essex tackled a house fire in Colchester in the early hours of this morning.

Crews were called to the fire, at a house in Triumph Close, at around 3.40am today, Monday, March 12.

Two crews from Colchester were sent to the scene and on arrival discovered a fire in a bedroom.

A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to a house fire in Colchester early this morning, Monday March 12.

“When fire crews arrived they found the fire was in one bedroom.

“As the door of the bedroom had been shut, the fire did not spread and the damage was limited to the bedroom.

“Firefighters managed to quickly extinguish the fire.”

He added that the cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.
