ESSEX firefighters tackled a blaze which started in a garage and spread to a public house in Writtle near Chelmsford tonight.
A total of four crews - three from Chelmsford and one from Great Baddow - were called to the Cock and Bell pub in Bridge Street at 9.21pm.
The fire, which started in the garage area, was noticed initially by some of the people drinking in the pub, who called in the fire service.
When the crews arrived the fire in the garage was “dully developed” and was starting to spread to the main building.
Three pumping appliances and one aerial ladder platform tackled the blaze using 2 hose reels, 1 main jet and a thermal image camera. The fire was extinguished at 10:22pm.
