COASTGUARD yesterday came to the rescue of two separate fishing boats stranded off the coast after losing power.

At about 6pm Harwich all weather RNLI lifeboat and the pilot boat Haven Harrier answered a call to the vessel Patricia Rose. She had lost power and her position in the fast closing fog.

Harwich RNLI lifeboat escorted her under tow and returned to Shotley Marina where they were met by Holbrook Coastguard team.

And at around 7.19pm West Mersea RNLI inshore lifeboat and Bradwell coastguard were called to assist a 16ft fishing boat Lady Karen who lost GPS power and as a result her position.

West Mersea lifeboat located the vessel and escorted them back to Bradwell marina.
