MOTORISTS were left facing long delays in Essex this morning after a five-car accident on a busy trunk road.
The crash took place on the London-bound carriageway of the A12 at about 8am between Kelvedon and Witham.
Nobody was seriously injured but police and several ambulance crews were called to the scene while morning travellers faced lengthy queues.
A spokesman for Stanway Road Policing Unit said it was the “wrong time of day” for such a crash to take place.
He said: “It was rush hour, so traffic was tailed back almost to Colchester at one point.”
He said that after coming to a virtual standstill, traffic flow on the dual-carriageway had now returned to normal.
