Five fire crews were called to Colman’s Dyke, at Lowestoft, to help recover a vehicle from the water, early this morning.

They were called out at 3.15am and the Unimog was used to pull the stricken silver Toyota Yaris from the dyke which had a smashed window.

Three fire engines came from the Lowestoft South station with the other two from Lowestoft North and Woodbrdige and the Environment Agency were also called in to clear leaking petrol from the water.

The incident was over by 4.16am and police are appealing for information into the incident.
