A FIVE-vehicle accident on the A14 caused “mayhem” this afternoon as traffic ground to a halt.

Two vehicles, a blue Renault Clio and a white Ford Transit van collided on the westbound carriageway at Sproughton at about 1.15pm.

Three further vehicles then crashed into them causing the pile up.

Traffic queued on the road until it re-opened at around 3.30pm.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said no-one was seriously injured and ambulance crews were called to the scene as a precaution.

“The accident happened somewhere between Copdock and Bramford, it caused mayhem.”
