RESIDENTS were evacuated from their flats after a fire started in a rubbish chute.

RESIDENTS were evacuated from their flats after a fire started in a rubbish chute.

The drama happened at a four-storey block in Old Foundry Road, Ipswich, at 4am today.

Fire crews from Princes Street and Colchester Road fire stations went to the scene and found a fire had started in a rubbish chute.

People living in the flats were evacuated while the blaze was dealt with but were allowed back in their homes once the flames had been extinguished.
