SEVERAL commuter rail services from London to Essex and Suffolk were delayed today after youths trespassed onto the tracks.

The National Express East Anglia Trains were put on “caution” by British Transport Police (BTP) following the incident at around 4.10pm.

Officers received reports that a number of youths had fled a train at Forest Gate station in north-east London to avoid ticket inspectors and made off after crossing the line.

Services from London Liverpool Street to Norwich - which passes through Colchester and Ipswich - and Harwich were delayed by around 15 minutes because trains were made to travel slower through the scene.

A spokesman for the BTP said officers were investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, problems on the line were compounded by signalling faults, which delayed the 4.02pm London Liverpool Street to Clacton service by nearly half an hour.
