A MAN from Bury St Edmunds is due in court later this month after being charged with drink driving following a crash near Flempton.

The 32-year-old was trapped in his car after it left the road and ended upside down among trees on the A1101 between the village and Lackford, at 12.12am, today.

Two fire engines and a rescue vehicle from Bury were called out but when they arrived the man had managed to get out of the vehicle. Nobody else was in the vehicle.

Police and an ambulance were also called to the scene and the driver was given a breath test which found he was more than double the drink drive limit recording 96 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 36mcgs.

He was taken to Bury St Edmunds police station and charged with drink driving and is due to appear before magistrates in the town on June 26.
