Flooding sees tip closed and football matches axed

LAST night's torrential downpour has resulted in a tip being closed and a number of football matches being called off.

LAST night's torrential downpour has resulted in a tip being closed and a number of football matches being called off.

The Foxhall Household Waste and Recycling Centre near Ipswich has closed because of flooding.

The tip will be out of action while the surface water is cleared.

Ipswich Borough Council has also announced that all weekend football matches at Gainsborough and Whitton sports centres and in the town's parks have been cancelled because of water-logging caused by the recent heavy rain.

Suffolk Constabulary said it received a number of calls last night from motorists concerned about the amount of water on the county's roads. There was also a number of football matches cancelled.
