WHEN Suffolk estate agent Jennie Jones decided to re-brand their image they were hoping it would make them stand out from the crowd.
But the company’s new “for sale” signs are having an unexpected effect on motorists driving past their properties.
From a distance the yellow and black boards bear a remarkable resemblance to speed cameras, fooling drivers into applying their brakes.
The estate agent, which has branches in Saxmundham, Aldeburgh and Southwold, was told about the confusion by a local policeman who was keen to see them rolled out even further.
Sarah Mitchell, negotiator with Jennie Jones, said: “It wasn’t intentional in any way at all. I think some people think it may have been a cynical marketing ploy but it really wasn’t. We just thought the signs were more contemporary and sophisticated.
“A police officer called into the office to say how delighted he was with their presence as it has had a serious impact on speeding on the approach roads to Southwold.”
