ESSEX firefighters have released a woman trapped in her car after a four-car road traffic accident on the A12 this evening.

Two crews from Witham fire station attended at the scene, between junctions 22 and 21 at about 6pm.
Four vehicles were involved in the collision, witnessed by an off duty firefighter.
He managed to get 11 people safely out of their cars before crews arrived to help release one woman left trapped.
Using hydraulic cutting equipment crews were able to release her by 6.42pm, leaving her in the care of attending paramedics.
