Framlingham College

An independent Suffolk school has created a new cricket pitch in honour or a recently retired chairman of governors who was a keen sports supporter.

Framlingham College’s new pitch is also said to reflect the growth of girls’ cricket at both the prep and senior schools — and the continued success for the boys.

The new pitch is said to provide “another beautiful and high-quality ground for cricket with spectacular views over the iconic Framlingham Castle”.

It has been named “Fane’s” in honour of Andrew Fane, who recently retired as chairman of governors.

Headmaster Paul Taylor said: “It was a rare Saturday when Andrew was not on the touchline or boundary, and it is entirely appropriate that a man who was Chairman for 17 years – and a governor for 21 – should have his name associated with the school in perpetuity.”

The school featured in The Cricketer magazine’s Top 100 Cricketing Schools for 2016.
