Four fire engines were involved in quelling a fire in Framlingham this afternoon.

A crew from Ipswich East and one from Needham Market attended the scene in Victoria Mill Road at 1.16pm this afternoon to find a farm workshop fully on fire. It later emerged that LPG cylinders were involved. The crews began fighting the flames with two jets but had to request backup.

Appliances from Leiston and Princes Street were mobilised along with a command unit and support pump from Woodbridge.

As the workshop had an asbestos roof, advice was also sought from the Environment Agency (EA) due to water run off.

The fire was brought under control by 2.44pm and a fire investigation is currently being carried out with the EA’s involvement.
