Framlingham’s eighth Sausage Festival is again expected to bring thousands of visitors to the town next month for the fiercely contested annual competition.

The event has grown to become one of the highlight’s of the culinary calendar, featuring some of the region’s best producers and an ever-increasing array of added entertainment beyond the “sausage trail” around the town.

To mark the countdown for this year’s event, organisers Framlingham Business Association (FBA) celebrated the fifth birthday of festival mascot Teddie the adorable dachshund, who received presents from K9 Diving and more goodies from her sponsor Scarlett and Mustard.

The FBA said this year’s festival would feature even more producers vying to be crowned winner, including Sutton Hoo Chicken, John Hutton Butchers and the Lemon Tree Restaurant “giving it a French twist”.

Other returning favourites include Hall Farm Butchers, Revetts, Powters, Dunnetts, Friday Street, Meat Masons and a combined stall from Emmerdale Farm Shop and Creaseys Butchers.

Other new additions include Framlingham Library as a venue for the sausage trail and even more entertainment.

Event founder Jenny Stockman said: “The Fresh Talent music stage is returning with some great new talent as well as old favourites, buskers, and top entertainer Greg Chapman who first brought us his escapology act six years ago and has a new show and something different each year. There will also be kids’ entertainment, sausage-making workshops, pets corner, ceramic painting and a bigger market place.”

In keeping with Teddie’s increasing celebrity-status, this year’s festival also features a new sausage dog T-shirt design.

The festival will take place from 10am on October 14, which is its second outing on a Sunday having moved over from Saturday due to the increasing popularity of the event.

Free parking will be provided from Framlingham College and there will be shuttle buses around the town.
