Sir Robert Hitcham’s Primary School has submitted plans to Suffolk Coastal District Council to remove the outdoor pool, which hasn’t been used for several years.
It also wants to create a step-free access from the road to the school reception and into the playground.
The plans went before Framlingham Town Council for their views last week, at which deputy chairman Stephanie Bennell said: “They are going to have to remove a hornbeam and a willow [tree], but they are replanting a lot so that will more than compensate, some fruit trees and silver birches to create more shade in the playground. They haven’t used that swimming pool for years. What they are planning is going to vastly improve the look of that site.”
Councillors voted unanimously in support of the plans, which will now be decided by Suffolk Coastal District Council.
