Suffolk singer Ed Sheeran may have competition from the younger generations in his childhood town – after 200 primary school pupils sang their hearts out in a fiercely contested inter-house cup.

Sir Robert Hitcham’s Primary School in Framlingham – the town where Ed grew up – held its annual singing competition this week, with judges praising the “very high” standards.

House teams performed songs from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, with Bulstrode House taking glory amid rapturous cheers of celebration.

Teacher Lora Cann said: “The children enjoy singing and are enthusiastic about the singing competition.

Pupils told of how much “everyone enjoyed singing” but also how it was “really competitive” and how some of the songs were “really hard – especially key changes”.
