A new social group supporting people affected by dementia and their carers has been hailed as a “great success” after more than 20 people attended its first meeting.

Event organiser Vicky Hutchinson, of the Dementia Partnership, said everyone who attended Framlingham and District Conservative Club on Thursday “went away with a smile on their face”.

“The day was a great success and everyone who came was so pleased to know this will be a regular event,” she said.

Visitors to the events, which take place on the last Thursday of the month, are offered a soup lunch and entertainment in a safe environment.

Ms Hutchinson, a dementia advisor with Age UK Suffolk, hopes to continue with a musical theme to the entertainment after the popularity of this month’s Scottish dancing.
