TWO people, including a 78-year-old woman, have been been taken to hospital following a road crash in north Essex.

Fire crews from Brightlingsea and Weeley were called to the scene in Main Road, Frating at 12.10pm and had to use specialist equipment to cut free a male casualty.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said they transported both patients to Colchester General Hospital for further care.

They said female casualty was conscious and breathing but with unspecified injuries. There are no details about the male patient at this stage.
