Motorists are being given the opportunity to get their vehicle’s catalytic converter in the exhaust system protected at a free security marking event at Evergreen Garage tomorrow from 9am to noon.
The police Safer Neighbourhoods’ Mid Suffolk Central Team will be at the garage in Gosbeck Road, Crowfield, near Needham Market, to mark catalytic converters, which are being targeted by thieves because they contain various precious metals.
The police use a permanent sticker and marking fluid, which provides a unique tracking number, using technology from a company called Retainagroup.
Motorists will also be given two stickers which they can display on the vehicle to show the ‘cat’ has been marked and deter thieves.
Evergreen Garage will also be offering free Hunter all-wheel alignment checks that day for customers.
Evergreen Garage can be contacted on 01473 890377.
