Rail passengers in the region suffered delays on Saturday morning after a freight train broke down on the main line between Needham Market and Stowmarket.
The breakdown affected services on the main line to the capital and on the cross-country routes from Ipswich to Cambridge and Peterborough.
There were delays of about 20 minutes until the broken down train could be recovered. The delays continued until late morning while Abellio Greater Anglia got their service back to schedule.
On Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday there are no trains between south Essex and London because of engineering work.
A bus link from Witham to Newbury Park tube station will operate on Sunday and from Ingatestone to Newbury Park on Monday – but journeys could take up to an hour longer on these days.
