Time is running out for a Suffolk charity helping abandoned and neglected animals, which will be left homeless in just four weeks unless a new site can be found.

French’s Care Haven and Care Farm has spent the last decade in Hadleigh - but a change in landowner means it needs to find a new home for the animals, including grazing space and outbuilding.

Last month, founder Jann Turner made a desperate appeal for help finding a suitable site so it can continue its “invaluable service”, which has saved scores of horses, donkeys, ponies and others abandoned animals. She spends hours every day approaching farms in the area, but has so far had “zero luck”.

And with just four weeks left on the lease the situation has become critical.

Ms Turner said her stress levels were “through the roof” as she fears for the animals which have nowhere else to go.

“There is so much spare land and barns out there sitting empty, it only needs one person to read our appeal for this nightmare to end,” she added.

“I am staying positive, but that is because I cannot even think of any other outcome other than finding a new premises and continuing with all the good work.”

Ms Turner has spent 11 years transforming the current site into a working farm with kitchen facilities, disabled toilet and a teaching room.

As well as helping animals in need, the organisation also works with Suffolk councils and charities, including Community Action Suffolk. Talent Match, Lapwing, Wot’s Up, Leading Lives and Bramacare, to give young people a chance to work with rescued animals as a form of therapy.

Ms Turner is looking for a plot with grazing space, a barn and outbuildings, such as a piece of redundant farmland.

“Land owners, can you offer grazing land and out-buildings, so we can continue with the invaluable service we provide for Suffolk’s animals and people, your help is needed now as time is running out,” she said.

The charity is also looking for a financial investor and patron to support its work.

“We need someone who has a heart and wants to helping animals or people with mental health problems - or both,” she added.

If you know of someone who has land to lease the charity email Ms Turner or call 07747 755556.
