Further details have emerged about the main suspect connected to an alleged rape in Brandon.

Suffolk Police are looking for witnesses to the incident, which reportedly took place at around 2am on Sunday in an open space accessed via Knappers Way in Brandon.

The area is adjacent to Glade Primary School and across a footpath from a play area.

It is believed the woman was attacked as she was out for a walk, with the man approaching from the direction of Knappers Way. He talked to her briefly before raping her.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his 20s-30s, 5ft 6in tall, of stocky build, and speaking with an eastern European accent.

A Suffolk Police spokesman revealed he is also described as having a crooked nose - consistent with it possibly having been broken - and being either bald or with a shaved head.

The victim continues to be supported by specialist trained officers as efforts to identify the offender are taking place. This includes forensic work, along with CCTV and house to house enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Caroline Millar, of the Major Investigation Team, said: 'We are deploying a significant number of resources into this inquiry, including specialist trained officers, and we continue to support and work with the victim following this attack.

'Police patrols in the area will be increased to provide public reassurance and I would like to take this opportunity to remind people not to go out alone in isolated areas at night and to always stay in groups.

'I cannot stress how important it is for anyone who was in the area between the hours of 12am and 3am on Sunday morning - or who saw a man matching this description in the area that night - to come forward. Any piece of information, however small it may seem, could be crucial in helping us to identify the suspect.'

Any witnesses are asked to contact the Joint Norfolk & Suffolk Major Investigation Team on 101 quoting reference 39638/16, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
