FRESSINGFIELD: Around 40 firefighters were despatched to a Suffolk village after reports of a suspected chemical leak.
The alert was triggered at 4.40pm today when a container fell off the back of a trailer near Fressingfield.
Fire engines from Stradbroke, Lowestoft South, Saxmundham, Leiston, Beccles, Haverhill and Holbrook were sent to the scene in Laxfield Road.
There were fears the incident could have led to a chemical spillage, but the 25-litre drum, containing ECO foam, was found in tact and the area made safe.
ECO foam is often used as spray insulation. A spokeswoman for the fire service said the incident posed no risk to the public.
