Frinton: Seven-year-old girl hurt after falling 15ft off sea wall

A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl is in hospital tonight (Saturday) after falling 15ft off a sea wall at Frinton, this afternoon.

The youngster was reported by the Thames Coastguards to have seriously hurt her back and suffered spinal injuries following the incident at the seaward end of High Street, at 1.10pm

The girl, who comes from Colchester, was taken to the Colchester General Hospital by a crew from the Essex Ambulance Service who attended the incident along with the Walton Coastguard.

The accident came during a busy period for the coastguards who had to attend a number of other minor call outs as more people ventured out onto the water and the seaside as a result of the good weather.

Later in the afternoon the Harwich Lifeboat was tasked to help an 8-metre long fishing boat which had broken down 22 miles out to sea at the Greater Gabbard wind farm.

A work boat from the farm towed the stricken vessel clear of the turbines before the lifeboat arrived and towed it back to Shotley.
