From darkest Peru to Bury St Edmunds – Paddington visits Suffolk
Christmas shoppers in Bury St Edmunds had the opportunity to meet the nation’s favourite marmalade-loving bear today.
Paddington, the star of Paddington 2, made a personal appearance in the town and many people did not miss out on the chance of a selfie with the famous character.
Fans queued to meet Paddington outside Moyse’s Hall and there was no charge to meet Michael Bond’s lovable bear, whose big screen debut in 2014 is the best-selling non-Hollywood family film ever released.
In recognition of Paddington’s popularity and success, Michael Bond was awarded an OBE for services to children’s literature in 1997 and a CBE in 2015. The creator died in June this year, aged 91.
There was also a chance for Christmas shoppers in Bury to see the baby reindeer and its mother, who proved such a big hit at the Christmas light switch-on event earlier this month, organised by Our Bury St Edmunds.
