A fundraising music day held in memory of Thurston teenager Ben Wragge – who tragically died after being accidently shot by an air rifle – will take place tomorrow.
The Benni’s Chill all-dayer is returning to The Victoria pub in the village for its second year, with all profits going towards a proposed new skate park for Thurston.
The 13-year-old keen skateboarder was fatally struck while playing with a group of boys at a friend’s house in the Suffolk village in May 2016.
A campaign was launched following his death to build a skate park in his memory and several fundraising events have gone ahead in aid of the project. The event, which will feature 22 bands and DJs playing on two stages, has been coordinated by Ben’s mum, Claire Wragge, with help from local promoters Lee Sullivan, Magic Carpet Promotions and Washing Machine.
Artists performing at the event, which runs from 2pm-midnight, include Scare the Normals, Thy Last Drop, Kyanos, Alicia Hall and Jade Merchant.
Tickets are priced at £10 on the door and all ages are welcome.
