A pirate invasion descended on Pettistree last week as children at Presmere Day Nursery embarked on a sponsored toddle for Barnardo’s.
In total, 25 children at the nursery donned their best pirate costumes to walk around the village, before returning for a treasure hunt - which unearthed a chest full of medals for taking part - and a picnic lunch in the sun.
All participants were aged between one- and four-years-old.
Nursery owner Debbie Hayward said: “It was lovely. The children had an absolutely lovely time, they absolutely loved it.”
The event raised around £300 for Barnardo’s, which is enough for the charity to buy a specially designed car seat for a disabled child.
Barnardo’s is a national children’s charity which works directly with over 200,000 children, young people and their families every year, offering services such as counselling for children who have been abused, fostering and adoption services and disability inclusion groups.
