West Suffolk was booming and bapping this weekend as Mildenhall Stadium played host to almost 2,000 revellers at one of the country’s biggest hip hop music festivals.

The three-day Boom Bap Festival, headlined by Ghostface Killah, came to the county for the first time on Friday, with around 100 artists playing to packed-out crowds.

The festival had previously been held in Peterborough but wanted to expand onto a larger site and Dave Coventry, one of the stadium’s owners, said Boom Bap could be back next year.

“All in all it’s been very good,” he said yesterday.

“We’ve got the space here, that’s the key to it all. It has got the space for everyone to spread out a bit. I can’t fault the organisers on the ground. “I think providing there’s no major impact on the area, and it doesn’t lead to a huge amount of discontent, then I don’t see any problem with it.
