Just one more sleep to the big day and I hope that all your Christmas preparations are sorted, writes west Suffolk photographer Andy Abbott.

He said: “I always really enjoyed working over the festive period, delightful Nativity plays, carols and Christmas Day babies. The annual lunch for the homeless and lonely supported by so many willing volunteers, everywhere picture opportunities of faith, hope and enjoyment.

“These few seasonal images I have found illustrate Christmas in a quite diverse way. Turkey and pigs in blankets may be the culinary chart toppers but at Alder Carr Farm I discovered one very confused bird, while on Christmas Eve in 2009 John Sayers was told he had to change the traditional way of calling some of the bingo numbers.

“Every year scores of brave or foolhardy folk take a festive dip in the North Sea for charity while inland at the chilli farm they invented a way of providing inner warmth in the cold.

“And in the season of goodwill I pictured the delightful Hope Puttock to offer a seasonal message to all two years after she underwent heart surgery.

“Finally more than 20 years ago I persuaded the wonderful local actor Bill Treacher to dress as Santa to offer all readers Christmas greetings - the message to all again today.”

Have a very merry Christmas.
