FOUR friends travelled over one hundred miles from their home in Holland just to watch Irish-crooner Daniel O'Donnell perform at the Regent last night.

The sell-out crowds swayed their arms in delight as the housewives favourite wowed with his much loved blend of Irish folk and country music.

For one group of fans, the night was particularly special.

Cindy Hart, from Holland, travelled all the way to Ipswich just to be in last night's audience.

She said it was the first time she had seen him live, having grown up listening to his music.

Ms Hart was accompanied by her mother, who is a “huge fan” and two friends.

She said: “My mum is a big fan, we came all this way just to see him live and have a good time.

“We have been looking forward to it, I really enjoy his music, my mum is always playing his CD's and DVD's.

“We are staying in Ipswich overnight and then visiting London, but the real reason we came for our short trip was to see Daniel.”

The much-loved singer first came to Ipswich in the early 1990s, last performing here in 2007.

Among his well known songs are Whatever Happened To Old Fashioned Love?, Morning Has Broken, and You Raise Me Up.

Daniel has had 20 UK Top 40 albums as well as 15 Top 40 singles and he has sold ten million albums worldwide.

Fans in Ipswich braved the bracing weather to buy tickets when they went on sale back in February.
