SHOPPERS in Bury St Edmunds queued today to get their first glimpse of a new 24-hour supermarket which has opened in town.
After months of building work and a campaign by residents living in the town's Mildenhall and Howard estates Asda has opened its doors in Western Way.
The formal opening of the 22million supermarket was marked by the Mayor of St Edmundsbury Bob Cockle.
The new store has led to 370 new jobs for the town.
The new Asda store will include the Extra Special and Smart Price food ranges as well as food and general supplies such as video, music, games and homewares.
