More than a thousand pupils from 44 Suffolk schools will take part in a six-night musical extravaganza at an internationally- renowned concert hall.
The 28th annual Celebration of Schools’ Music got under way last night at Snape Maltings Concert Hall with the theme of “My Suffolk”. About 1,600 pupils are scheduled to take part in the concerts, which will feature everything from jazz and rock bands, choirs and orchestras, to showcase the work being produced in Suffolk’s schools.
Organised in partnership between Aldeburgh Music and Suffolk County Council, the celebration brings together all ages and abilities in a “musical extravaganza”.
Aldeburgh Music’s Lizzie Woods said the scheme gives pupils the chance to “experience the magic of performing in front of 800 people, on a stage where some of the world’s greatest musicians have played”.
Performances will be held every evening this week from 7pm until Saturday.
