Top footballers spread some festive cheer on a hospital’s children’s ward with gifts and good cheer.

Ipswich Town’s Carlos Edwards, Christophe Berra and David McGoldrick brought smiles to the faces of patients at West Suffolk Hospital’s Rainbow Ward.

Players used money from their own pockets to buy presents such as toys, games and craft materials. Town captain Mr Edwards said: “I know how difficult it is to see your children in hospital at anytime, let alone Christmas.

“Hopefully we can bring a smile to the children’s faces with a few presents.”

Ward manager Dawn Dorrington added: “The Ipswich Town visit is always a huge highlight for them as they count down to the big day itself, and really helps to put a smile on their faces.”
