RUNNERS were pretty in pink in Colchester when they raced to raise money for a cancer charity.

Two Race for Life events took place in the town yesterday. Women fundraising for Cancer Research UK ran, jogged or walked a 5km course in Lower Castle Park.

Despite the sun not shining, and a few drops of rain, spirits were high among the runners, many wearing pink or fancy dress.

The first run took place at 11am with the next setting off at 2pm. More than 2,000 women, young and old, were said to have taken part in the event which is held in towns across the country.
