Military vehicles, pipers and drummers packed into Colchester town centre on Saturday for the launch of the Colchester Military Tournament.

Culver Square shoppers were treated to a display of Austin Champ and Land Rovers and music from the City of Norwich Pipe Band.

David Robertson, Culver Square centre manager, said: “As a keen supporter of military charities and having previously worked for the forces myself, I am delighted Culver Square could be involved with the launch of the Colchester Military Tournament. Our shoppers got a great insight into what’s in store at the event in July.”

The tournament, organised by the East Anglia branch of ABF The Soldier’s Charity, will feature a Spitfire flypast, death-defying stunts and a Red Devils free-fall parachute team display among other attractions for all the family.

The tournament will be held on Abbey Field on July 5-6.
