AUDIENCES were treated to an array of musical delights as part of a special anniversary showcase featuring dance through the ages.

More than 100 students from Woodbridge School recently performed on stage at the Seckford Theatre.

The two night show took the audience on a musical journey from the 16th Century through to the present day.

The bi-annual dance showcase was even more special this year as it formed part of Woodbridge School’s 350th anniversary celebrations.

The programme started with court dancing from the 16th Century and moved through the years using ballet, ballroom, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop and street. The programme also included West End hits such as Cats, The Lion King and Billy Elliot.

Nicki Carter, who teaches dance at Woodbridge School, said: “We used the stage and screen for our inspiration which allowed popular musicals to take prominence.

“As well as being good to dance to, they were also instantly recognised and enjoyed by the audience.

“We applied our original choreography throughout so we could provide our own Woodbridge take on these current theatrical delights.”
