Gallery: Thousands flock to Art on the Prom at Felixstowe

AN estimated 20,000 visitors enjoyed an artistic Sunday as the town’s prom was transformed.

The ninth Art on the Prom festival saw the area between the pier and the Spa Pavilion transformed into a huge outdoor gallery.

All types of art were represented.

Organiser Stephen Wyatt said it was the best event held yet – and should prove a great launch pad for next year’s tenth festival.

Mr Wyatt said: “Judging from the number of leaflets we distributed, and working out how many people were in each section of the event, we reckon about 20,000 people saw the art.

“They might not all have stayed that long or seen it all, but it was really pleasing to have so many people pass through here.”

The weather had played its part in making the event so successful.

Mr Wyatt said: “Really it was just right – not too hot, not too cold and most importantly it was not too windy. It was a wonderful day to hold an event like this.

“It was our ninth event, and the best ever. Now we are starting to think about what we are going to do to make something really special next year for the tenth celebration.”
