Father Christmas visited a garden centre to meet children when he opened his grotto for the first time this year.

Arriving not on his trusty sleigh and reindeer, Old St Nick opted instead for transport from the 19th century to travel to Notcutts garden centre in Woodbridge.

Proceeds from the event and the grotto, which has been opened for the run-up to Christmas, will support The Rotary Club of Woodbridge.

Manager Nick Bugden said: “We had a great crowd out the front - about 120 people who gave a great welcome. We support the Rotary Club of Woodbridge which is raising funds for the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and the charity, Just 42.

“This year he was on two horses and a carriage; we do it every year but we often change the mode of transport.”

Father Christmas will be in his grotto every weekend before December 25 - between 11am-1.30pm and 1.45pm-4.15pm.
