DREARY weather did little to dampen the spirits of hundreds of visitors who turned out in force to see some giants of the industrial era.
The Long Shop Museum in Leiston held its Final Fling open day.
Visitors were able to see engines in steam, bygone stalls and learn about the museum’s ambitious restoration plans. The former Garrett works shunting loco Sirapite was in steam along with two other full size traction engines.
Museum manager Stephen Mael said: “Despite a few early setbacks trying to get engines in steam in the rain we are delighted with the way it all turned out. Several hundred people came along, making for a great atmosphere.”
