Gallery: West Suffolk wakes up to piles of snow – is it on its way to the east of the county?

People living in Bury St Edmunds have woken up to find their homes, gardens and streets covered in a smattering of snow – while over in Ipswich there is almost no sign of it.

Yesterday forecasters at Weatherquest, based at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, predicted a chance of snow right through until tomorrow evening.

And the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for Suffolk and other parts of East Anglia saying the risk of snow and ice was likely.

Their predictions seem to have been spot on so far, at least in the west of the county, where some places have seen a few centimetres of snow settling.

That begs the question: Will the rest of Suffolk stay untouched or will the snow clouds have covered the county by the end of the day?
