A getaway vehicle used during a ram raid on a shop in an Essex village has been found by police torched.
At around 4.45am on Monday, thieves used a forklift truck to smash into the side of a Co-op in Earls Colne before taking the cash machine inside.
A group of men loaded the ATM onto a stolen Mitsubishi Canter flatbed truck and drove off at speed alongside a black estate car, in the direction of Halstead.
The Mitsubishi was found in a remote location in Birdbrook Road, Stambourne, around 11.30pm the same day with the empty cash machine inside.
The truck had been damaged by fire, according to Essex Police.
The investigation into the theft is ongoing.
Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who saw the Mitsubishi in the area at the time or anyone who has CCTV or dash cam footage of the incident to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
