A 16-YEAR-OLD girl was indecently assaulted while she travelled on a public bus on Saturday morning.

Police have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses and issued a description of a man wanted in connection with the incident.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said the young girl got on the number 753 bus - travelling from Bury St Edmunds to Sudbury - in Long Melford at about 10.05am and sat on the lower deck of the coach.

A man got on at the next stop in the village and sat next to her before touching her inappropriately on the bottom. The female got off the bus at Girling Street, Sudbury, and the man remained on the bus.

He has been described as white, in his 30s, of slim build, 5ft 3ins tall, with short gingery brown hair and a prominent chin.

The police spokesman said: “We want to hear from anyone travelling on the bus yesterday morning or who may have seen the man get on the bus in Long Melford or in Sudbury.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Kim Ramdhanie at Sudbury Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
