A toddler has been rushed to hospital with a fractured skull after a serious crash in Barningham this morning.
Police, ambulance crews, firefighters and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to Bardwell Road in the village at 8.45am to reports of a single vehicle collision.
Three children – a three-year-old boy, two-year-old girl and a two-month-old boy – were in the car at the time alongside two adults.
Paramedics treated the two-year-old girl and one of the adults, a man, at the scene before taking them both to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, a police spokesman said.
The toddler had a head injury while the man is thought to have suffered a broken finger.
A police spokesman later confirmed the two-year-old girl had suffered a fractured skull, although her injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.
The two boys and their mother were not seriously hurt, the police spokesman added.
Bardwell Road was shut between Barningham and the crossroads at Bowbeck in Bardwell while police carried out investigation work at the scene.
A police spokesman said recovery of the vehicle took place at 12.35pm and that the road had since reopened.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle prior to the collision should contact Bury St Edmunds Serious Collision Team on 101 quoting CAD 109 of January 19.
